Dear Madison Families,

It has been a wonderful start to our school year! Our hallways are full of smiles, curiosity, and excitement for learning. Thank you for helping make the beginning of the year so positive for our students and staff.

This month, we’re focusing on attendance, because at Madison, we know that Every Day Matters! The Oregon Department of Education reminds us that when students attend school regularly, they are more likely to stay on track academically, build strong relationships with peers and teachers, and develop the habits that lead to lifelong success.

A “regular attender” is a student who attends 90% or more of school days—that means missing no more than about two days each month. While it may not seem like much, missing just a few days here and there can add up quickly and make it harder for students to keep up with new learning.

Currently, our regular attendance rates are:

  • Kindergarten: 84%
  • 1st Grade: 69%
  • 2nd Grade: 76%

Our goal is that 90% of Madison students will be regular attenders. If your family is facing challenges that make daily attendance difficult, please know we are here to help. Whether you need support with transportation, morning routines, or communication with your child’s teacher, we want to partner with you.

Our classrooms are also working hard as teams to reach their attendance goals and earn fun classroom rewards along the way! It’s inspiring to see students encouraging one another to be at school each day and celebrating their progress together.

Together, we can make sure every child has the best opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything—we’re here for you and your child every step of the way.
